Ladies’ Group Retreat, West Lane Baptist, Haworth, West Yorkshire

This group was keen to interact with the community and attended the very small local church, St. Agatha’s, Skeeby. They have visited the centre twice so far. In 2011, 13 ladies stayed 2 nights and 2 more visited on the Sunday.

“We had a lovely welcome at church and the weather has been wonderful. We've talked about lots of important women and had time of quiet, music, prayer and laughter. The house was super and very comfortable given the size of the group. We all like to sit and eat together and could fit comfortably in the lounge, the fire was lit and was super on Saturday with the first real frost of the autumn.” [Hazel Bottomley, 2010]

“We had a really memorable weekend at Skeeby, the theme was Home and we've made a new banner for church with our creative output from the weekend. We worshipped at St Agatha's and Lesley [the local vicar] was preaching and changed her sermon to fit, which was a lovely touch.” [Hazel Bottomley, 2011]

Management Retreat, Rhema Theatre Company Bringing the Bible to life

This charitable company aims to make the Bible stories known in an exciting and unforgettable way. Their aim of their retreat was to have “real time to dream big dreams with God at the centre” [Mark Wade – Company Manager]

“The best retreat place yet. There was a good amount of space to be together, eat together and seek God. The location is superb. We had good walks, meals, brainstorming and planning sessions, games and great fellowship. And we moved forwards as a ministry.” [Becky Peacock, Artistic Director and joint founder.] See www.rhematheatre.org

“The Old Mill Centre was the perfect place for us to spend some extended time as a management team, praying, worshipping, and seeking God’s direction together. We enjoyed being able to sit around the large family dining table, breaking bread together and the opportunity that offered for relationship building. We went into Richmond on one of our evenings there and enjoyed an Indian dinner and on one of the afternoons we got ourselves wrapped up to take a walk alongside the river. A beautiful setting for reflection and fun - one of the team even climbed a large tree! The time and space we were blessed to share there over one weekend bore much fruit, both in the relationship bonding and in releasing us to have time to dream big dreams for the future ministry of Rhema. I enjoyed it so much there, I booked to take my home fellowship group along recently and we had an amazing weekend too. I highly recommend this property to all who need somewhere big enough for a dozen or so people to spend some quality time together.” [Liz Banks – Chair of Trustees, 2009-2012]

Youth Alpha Course: end of course day, Richmond Methodist Church, North Yorks

Richmond Methodist Church decided to do the end of course residential locally in an Away Day format and the Old Mill suited their needs perfectly. There were 12 teenagers and 4 leaders. They had a worship time, discussion and small group activities on the following topics: Session 1 - What about the Holy Spirit? Session 2 - How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit? Session 3 - How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?

They cooked lunch in the kitchen at the Old Mill and sat around the large dining room table to share their meal. During the afternoon they enjoyed games using the outdoor space and the studio.
