14th November

-

This Saturday, 16th November, The Old Mill Centre is delighted to welcome several local artists and a craftsman.  Visitors to the Open Day will have the opportunity to meet them and see their exhibitions from 10am-4pm.  Anyone can come along: and it doesn’t cost anything.  Refreshments will be provided.

Kathryn Guy’s flair for jewellery making will be clearly apparent in her display.  She creates colourful and tactile pieces of contemporary jewellery using a combination of techniques such as hand felting, freehand machine embroidery, knitting and crotchet.  Every piece is meticulously handmade and completely unique.

Clare Lindley specialises in a long established art form that straddles art and craft: papercutting.  She fills her work with images of the natural world, stylised with her imagination.  Most of her work is in black and white but layers of colour are also used at times.  Clare will run a workshop at our Open Day, so why not have a go?

Another feature of our day will be luthier Stephen Sharp who repairs and restores violins and violas.  ‘Cello work will also be undertaken.  Repairs of all types can be carried out, as well as instrument servicing, cleaning and set up.  Full bow repair, re-hair and cleaning service can also be provided.  Stephen’s skills may be just what you are looking for.  Oh, and if you’re searching for that extra special Christmas present, he also makes delightful walking sticks.
